Successful volunteers will be between 18 and 60 years old who are generally in good health and whose sole, or predominant, manifestation of lupus is cutaneous. They should be willing to remain in the clinic for two overnight stays, and their existing medications must be on a stable dose for 4 weeks. Research sites are located across the United States. Candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 64, be overweight but otherwise healthy. Women must be post-menopausal or surgically sterile. Qualified participants may receive study-related evaluations and investigational medication at no cost. Compensation up to $1,600 is available for time and travel. The research site is in Portland, Ore. Successful volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, have an open skin wound such as an ulcer, burn, major abscess, or deep cellulites that is infected. Symptoms of this condition include: drainage, swelling, heat, pain, and fever. You may not participate in this study if your skin wound is caused by diabetes, animal bite, or gangrene; or if you have received an organ transplant within the past 6 months, or are pregnant, nursing, or intend to become pregnant during the study.
